The first sound bit is a live, completely ad lib performance
between Ken Caldwell on soprano sax and myself on just snare
and hi hat - neither of us rehearsed the composition
performed. Whatever came into Ken's mind to play I
accompanied him as I felt from within. As a drummer I used
this opportunity as an illustration to show that sometimes
all a drummer needs is just the bare minimum to perform with
another outstanding artist - no full drum kit is required.
The second sound bit is again a live, completely ad lib
performance between Ken Caldwell, again on soprano sax and
myself on the full drum kit. Once again no rehearsal time
was given. Each of us played individually what we felt
within so true musicianship would occur for that given
moment.
I hope that those who hear these recording will appreciate
the outstanding musicianship of Ken Caldwell - a truly great
performer and dear friend. As DWAH, I was just there to
ensure he did not loose the time or tempo of what was being
performed between us - that is what a true drummer does for
other great musicians.
